Welcome to the inaugural Creating Retail Magic blog that will be full of inspiring ideas for visual merchandising, retail interiors and themed events for all local independent businesses both Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and beyond.
For my first blog, I'd like to show you some current retail inspiration from my hometown - Dublin.
I always loved accessorising, styling and theming - as evidenced by our 1970's family holiday snaps. To this day, I just love hats and millinery!
I installed my first window display at the age of 3 in my grandfather's menswear shop in Dublin City Centre (it was a Star Wars theme and involved lots of aluminium foil, silver glitter and black crepe paper under the strict tutelage of my granddad, Mr Kerr!).
Fast forward 15 years, and my first VM student placement was to help create the magical Switzer's Santa Grotto in gorgeous Grafton Street. Sadly, Switzer's has long gone, but is now the site of the beautiful Brown Thomas department store.
The shopping area around Grafton Street is still abound with retail and creative inspiration, and here are just some of the vibrant visuals that caught my eye on a sunny summer day in Dublin.
So, thanks for joining me for this little glimpse of Dublin displays on a sunny summer's afternoon. Really look forward to showing you more retail magic and inspiration for all local businesses and market traders ... and please do call anytime for a chat.
Until next time,
